Hello, dear readers! Today, let’s enjoy the sight of one of the top symbols of London – the magnificent capital of the UK which is regarded as an architectural icon itself. It holds the largest four-faced chiming clock in the world, is the third-tallest free-standing clock tower and was completed in 1858. The Elizabeth Tower, nowadays best known as the Big Ben (originally, the nickname for the great bell of the clock) was designed by Augustus Pugin as a part of Charles Barry’s Neo-gothic design for a new palace, after the old Palace of Westminster was largely destroyed by fire on the night of 16 October 1834.
The drawing is in A3 size, made using HB pencils. Undoubtedly worth being drawn, this architectural masterpiece features complex details and delicate ornamentation, so it took me around 15 hours to complete. Enjoy the evolution displayed in the photos below!!
The clock tower is a sample of refinement, a second-to-none touristic attraction in the Great Britain. But, now, it’s a bit more than that – true art depicted in an art piece, and a surprise gift for my lovely deskmate, Anca Radulescu, on her 18th anniversary.
