Dynamic Focus - Meeting mode

Meeting room Nod Makerspace – Antalis Awards 2019

This year’s Antalis  Design Awards asked for a redesign of the Nod Makerspace meeting room, using Coala products by Antalis. Meant to be a multi-functional space, the room had to accomodate a large range of activities: working, trainings, play, relaxation. In my opinion, Nod Makerspace community means dynamism, creativity, inspiration and flexibility. Non-conventional thinking and the dynamic creation process reunite in a single concept that supports the design proposal – Dynamic focus.

Through a game of light, textures and shapes, the project generates a space that suits well for 3 types of activities- meetings, trainings and relaxation. This adaptive feature of the design is made possible by the modular units of the central table and the interactive wall decoration, which turnes into a multitude of focal points.

The 8 modular table units of 80×80 cm can be used together as a large table, ideal for meetings and ping-pong games, or separated, in case of trainings and teamwork sessions. For film projections or VR games, the table units can be set apart completely on the sides of the room, leaving the center free.

The dynamic composition of the ceiling enhances the focus on the fixed projector screen, axially-positioned in front of the entrance. Floating into the ceiling, there are also the video projector and the lighting system, consisting of rectangular volumes with LED strip lights. The color pallete is in accordance with Nod Makerspace visual identity. Warm solar colors mix with neutral shades of grey, creating emphasis and depth.

The Coala products enhance the design of the room up to the finest details.
